From Salisbury with love: Backpacks delivered to S.C.

A crew from Salisbury has delivered 156 backpacks full of school supplies to schools in Columbia, S.C.

Two weeks ago, Dr. Jim Dunkin said First Presbyterian Church would be collecting backpacks and school supplies for children in flood-ravaged Columbia, S.C.

The backpacks flowed in— from church members and the community.

Wednesday Dunkin and Nathan Coyle, a church elder, took the backpacks to Columbia, visiting several schools.

“They were so grateful that people in North Carolina cared so much,” Dunkin said.

“Many thanks to the people of First Presbyterian Church, Steven Cauble and the people of Providence United Methodist Church, and those in the community who dropped off backpacks,” Dunkin said. “Generosity for those in need is a wonderful trait of our community.”
