Catawba won its third straight SAC volleyball match with a sweep of visiting Anderson on Saturday at Goodman Gym.
Catawba’s 25-13, 25-23 and 26-24 victory gave head coach Ginger Hamric her 500th win at Catawba.
Catawba (11-9, 8-5 SAC) was led by 11 kills by Rachel Gallup.

Catawba’s men’s soccer team lost 4-2 at Anderson on Saturday.
Catawba (4-8, 2-6 SAC) got goals from Bradley Dowdall and Kenny Bonilla (Salisbury).

Catawba women’s soccer lost 2-0 at Anderson on Saturday.
Bethany Davis had eight saves for the Indians (3-10, 2-6).

Pfeiffer athletics
Pfeiffer’s undefeated and top-ranked men’s soccer team won 4-1 at Erskine on Saturday.
Pfeiffer (13-0, 7-0 Conference Carolinas) has won 18 straight regular-season matches.

Prep football
Owen White and Austin Lear scored touchdowns for Carson in Friday’s 35-14 SPC loss to Concord.
White had a 1-yard run in the third quarter. Lear had a 14-yard run in the fourth quarter.

Prep volleyball
North Rowan, Salisbury and East Davidson tied for second place in the CCC.
North Rowan got the No. 2 seed (the Cavaliers were the only team to beat league champ West Davidson) and a first-round bye.
Salisbury won the draw for the No. 3 seed and hosts No. 6 Lexington in a first-round game on Monday at 5 p.m.
The Salisbury-Lexington winner plays North Rowan on Tuesday at 5 p.m. in a semifinal.
East Davidson is the host for the Tuesday’s semifinals and Wednesday’s championship game.
The top three teams get automatic bids to the 2A state playoffs. If a play-in game is necessary, it would be played on Wednesday.

Carson played two games on Saturday at Starmount.
Carson lost 25-20, 25-22 and 27-25 to Reagan. Carson won 25-17, 25-15 and 29-27 against Starmount.
4A power Reagan (24-0) swept Starmount.

Local golf
The Corbin Hills Golf League concluded with an awards ceremony.
Twenty-five seniors competed from April to October:
First place: Tommy Trexler.
Second place: Bob Whitley.
Third place: Bill Boger.
Fourth place: Danny Brady.
Fifth place: Richard Smith.
Sixth place: Perry VonCanon. Seventh place: David Hanes.
Seven super seniors competed. The winner was Gene Hayden, with Lou Manning second.

College football
Charlotte’s Kalif Phillips had 35 caries for 204 yards and scored two touchdowns in Saturday’s 37-34 loss to Old Dominion.
