Dozens attended a candlelight vigil Monday evening to remember those who have died over the past year as a result of domestic violence and honor survivors.
A bell rang for each of the 60 victims of domestic violence in North Carolina over the past year. Survivors told their stories.
Organized by the Family Crisis Council of Rowan County, the vigil took place on the steps of the Rowan County courthouse. Among those attending was a church women’s group that moved its regular meeting to the event.
October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
