The annual Patrons’ Ball held by Novant Health Foundation Rowan Medical Center raised $220,000 to add special 3-D mammography technology at the hospital’s breast center.

The event was held at Catawba College’s Peeler Crystal Lounge on Sept. 12.

“We are so grateful to the patrons of the ball for their contributions,” said Dari Caldwell, president of Novant Health Rowan Medical Center. “The new 3-D mammography equipment will save countless lives by helping to identify breast tumors early on.”

The Patrons’ Ball planning committee was co-chaired by Tracy Smith and Kari Comadoll and included committee members Tippie Miller, Nancy Linn, Rachel Ross, Shari Graham and Hen Henderlite.

“Without the efforts of all the ladies on the planning committee, we couldn’t have had such a successful event,” said Rick Parker, director of Novant Health Foundation Rowan Medical Center.

The theme of this year’s 25th annual Patrons’ Ball was inspired by “The Great Gatsby.” Many of the patrons dressed in the style of the Roaring Twenties, with ladies in flapper gowns and men in long-tail tuxedos. The Salisbury Swing Band provided the entertainment during the outdoor social portion of the ball, while Virtual Sounds supplied the dance music following dinner. Best Impressions Caterers catered the meal.
