A Florida man who used to live in Rowan County is in the Rowan County Detention Center under $600,000 bond on charges he sexually assaulted three girls.

John Edward Reese, 33, who has a New Smyrna, Fla., address, was arrested on the Rowan County charges Sunday after he was released from jail in Florida.

Reese was charged in Rowan with one count of first-degree rape, 20 counts of indecent liberties with children and 22 counts of first-degree sexual offense with a victim under 13.

The Rowan County Department of Social Services referred Reese’s case to the Sheriff’s Office in December. Reese was already incarcerated in Florida for sexual assault.
