In early September, Catawba College students enrolled in Dr. Jay Bolin’s field botany class went to the Carolina Beach area to study the coastal plant communities and species.
The group visited Green Swamp Preserve, White Oak River and Carolina Beach State Park, as well as other sites. The trip gave students an opportunity to see and learn about the plant species present in the coastal plains area, which is an experience impossible to recreate in a classroom setting.
