Bicycle coalition schedules city council candidate event

The Salisbury Bicycle Coalition will host a leisurely ride with city council candidates on Oct. 4.
The ride is scheduled to start at 2:30 p.m. in the parking lot across from the Rowan Public Library headquarters, on West Fisher Street. The event is open to the public. The route will snake through neighborhoods near downtown Salisbury.
A reception is scheduled afterward at Mean Mug Coffee — 1024 South Fulton Street. The reception will start at 3:30 p.m.
Candidates who have confirmed their attendance via Facebook include: Karen Alexander, Stephen Arthur, Roy Bentley, Maggie Blackwell, Constance Partee Johnson, Mark Lewis and Tamara Sheffield. Candidate David Post is also scheduled to attend.
A total of 16 people are running for Salisbury City Council. Three are incumbents and 13 are challengers.
