Labor Day Tournament begins

The 62 annual Crowder/Dorsett Labor Day 4-Ball Golf Tournament was scheduled to get underway this morning at the Country Club of Salisbury, with early tee times for several of the flights, including the women and super senior divisions.

The championship flight have afternoon tee times, including top seed and defending champions Charlie Graeber and Michael Childress going off of No. 1 at 1:00 — against the No. 16 team of Glenn and Roy Dixon.

Following the first group off No. 1, in eight-minute intervals, are: No. 2 Wes Cline-Tyler Mulkey (qualifying medalists) vs. No. 15 Nick Lyerly-Michael Dorsett; Cole Buckwell-Kevin Lentz, seeded third, vs. No. 14 Drue Davis-Derek Lipe; No. 4 Ryan Honeycutt-Keith Dorsett vs. No. 13 Stephen Carroll-Walker Cress.

At the same tee times, beginning at 1 p.m., but going off of No. 10 are: No. 5 Phil Miller-Andrew Morgan vs. No. 12 Clay Kilgore-David Miller; No. 6 Richard Cobb-Robert Jordan vs. No. 11 Frederick Corriher-Christopher McCoy; No. 7 Seth Correll-Chris Nesbitt vs. No. 10 Dwayne McIntyre-Brad Vinson; and No. 8 Josh Brinchfield-Eric Mulkey vs. No. 9 Chris Williams-Michael Swaringen.

Defending women’s flight champions Allison Adams and Grace Yatawara have a bye, due to there being just seven teams in the competition. Second-seeded Kristin Laton and Phyllis Durland took on No. 7 Lisa Zerger and Suzette Pritchard at 8:16.

The top-seeded team in the super senior flight, David Roueche and Steve Vail, were scheduled to tee off on No 1 at 8:56 a.m., against No. 8 Rick Hampton and Barry Medinger.

Defending champion and No. 1 seed in the senior division, Craig Rae and Andre Resner are scheduled for a 2:04 tee time today, going off No. 1. Rae and Resner were to play No. 8 Randy Davis and Jim Wyatt. Davis and Wyatt won a playoff to get into the field.

Matches will continue on Sunday and Monday, with championship and consolation play. The championship flight competitors will also start their tee times at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
