Police charged a Salisbury man with cocaine and marijuana possession after they’d received information about possible drug activity at an East Cemetery Street home.

David Jumar White, 32, of the 600 block of South Ellis Street, was charged on Tuesday with felony possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver a controlled substance schedule II and misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance schedule VI.

Salisbury Police say they’d been watching a home at 507 E. Cemetery St. involving possible drug activity following complaints from neighbors. Officers witnessed White selling drugs from that home, which is rented by Vivian Lucille Etheridge.

Authorities say Etheridge was not home at the time of the incident, but it appears White had permission from her to be at the home. She was not charged in the incident.

Police went to the home and saw White, also known as David Lamont White, in the front yard. A search warrant was served and police seized 15.7 grams of crack cocaine and 4.8 grams of marijuana. Police described the cocaine as large chunks, not broken into individual rocks.

Police also seized money from the home and discovered two $100 bills were counterfeit.

White was issued a $5,000 secured bond and has since been released from the Rowan County Detention Center.

He has a number of felony convictions including assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, possession of a firearm by a felony, possession of stolen goods, assault inflicting serious injury, possession of a firearm by a felon, possession with intent to sell and deliver a counterfeit controlled substance, receiving a stolen vehicle, possession with intent to sell a schedule VI substance, and possession of a schedule II controlled substance.

White has also been charged with misdemeanor offenses including driving while impaired, possession of a firearm by a minor, driving while license revoked and providing fictitious information to law enforcement.

White has a pending 2014 Rowan County court case for felony possession of a schedule I substance, felony possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana and marijuana paraphernalia.
