Local Bridge with Myrnie McLaughlin

With so many players desiring more masterpoints, beginning in September, I will hold more special games as allowed by the ACBL.

These games award higher levels of points to the winners. Up until now I have been absorbing the additional extra dollar/person assessed for special games at the time of the monthly report, but with the growing attendance I cannot sustain that practice. Some months we can have a special game at each session but unless you want that extra expense I will have only two special games at the Women’s Club and Evergreen games each.

On Sept. 10-13 there is a NLM tournament in Charlotte at the Park Ave. bridge center. Particulars are on the ACBL website.

The Charlotte Regional Tournament will begin Oct. 26 and go through Nov. 1. This is an outstanding opportunity to win some Gold points toward your Life Master ranking.

Friday, Aug. 21 Evergreen game was well attended. Noise and chaos were much reduced and play proceeded well. I still have some bugs to iron out with the Bridgemate system. Thanks for your patience.

Winning: N/S First, Dick Brisbin and Pat Featherston; second, Marie Pugh and Ruth Bowles; third, Maggie Canup and Toni Iossi. E/W: First, John and Myrnie McLaughlin; second, Judy Gealy and Carol Bachl; third, Chuck and Margaret Rimer.

Featured is board# 13 from the Aug. 21 game. All vulnerable North dealer
