Lt. governor candidate to speak at Rowan Democrats meeting
Democratic candidate for lieutenant governor Linda Coleman will speak at the Rowan County Democratic Party’s annual potluck picnic on Thursday.
The picnic will start at 6 p.m. at Shoaf’s Wagon Wheel on Highway 601. In addition to Coleman, candidates who are registered Democrats and are running in municipal elections have also been invited to speak.
Coleman, formerly a member of the N.C. House and state personnel director, also ran in 2012 for lieutenant governor. She lost in a tight race to current Lt. Gov. Dan Forest, a Republican. Forest is expected to seek a second term, setting up a rematch in 2016.
Coleman has also served as chairwoman of the Wake County Board of Commissioners.
On her website, Coleman says she wants to give “middle class families a fighting chance again.”
