Rowan weather: Warm start to first day of school

Published 8:00 am Monday, August 24, 2015

Remember the old wives tale that August fog equals winter snows? Maybe this morning is a hint.

It’s the first day of school, so keep an eye out for buses and children.

It’s supersaturated out there and 72 degrees. We have a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms toward the late afternoon hours. Otherwise, it will be partly sunny and 89, but don’t be surprised to see temperatures into the 90s in your neighborhood.

Tonight there’s just a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, with more patchy fog expected around midnight. The low will be 65.

It clears out tomorrow, with mostly sunny skies and a high around 86. Tuesday night will be clear and a cool 62 degrees.

Sunny again Wednesday, with a high of 85 and a low of 63.

Thursday will be … sunny again and 85 again and 63 again.

Friday shows little change, mostly sunny and 86. The low will be 64.

And the weekend, which teachers and children will be looking forward to, no doubt, should be mostly sunny and very warm.

Saturday’s high will be 86, with a low of 66, and Sunday’s high will be 88.
