Area Sports Briefs: Dorsett shoots 60

Keith Dorsett shot 12-under 60 at Corbin Hills on Friday to set an unofficial course record.
Dorsett shot 32 on the front and 28 on the back.
He made seven pars, 10 birdies and an eagle.
Dorsett’s previous best round at Corbin Hills was a 63.
Dorsett is a seven-time Rowan Masters champ and a two-time Rowan Amateur champion.

American Legion
South Carolina scored twice in the bottom of the ninth and beat Michigan 2-1 in the American Legion World Series in Shelby on Friday.
Southeast Regional champ South Carolina (29-0) trailed 1-0 after the third inning.
Peyton Spangler walked with the bases loaded to force home the winning run.
Justin Hawkins and Kevis Burton had three hits each for South Carolina.
It was the first game for South Carolina in the World Series. South Carolina plays Louisiana in pool play on Saturday at 4 p.m.
In other games on Friday, Louisiana beat Connecticut 2-1 and Oregon beat Nebraska 3-2.
In the other games on Saturday, Oregon plays Hawaii at 12:30 p.m. and New Jersey takes on Nebraska at 7:30 p.m.

Little League
In the Little League Softball World Series in Portland, Ore. on Friday, Washington won 10-0 against Canada, Texas rolled 8-1 against host Oregon, Iowa routed Philippines 12-0, and Uganda edged Rhode Island 3-2.

Intimidators
Michael Suiter extended his franchise-record hitting streak to 23 games, but the Kannapolis Intimidators lost 7-2 to Hagerstown on Friday in a home game.
Kannapoli dug a hole by making three early errors.
Kannapolis plated its first run in the home half the sixth when Toby Thomas singled home Mason Robbins to cut the Suns’ lead to 6-1.
Suiter scored on a double by Robbins for the Intimidators’ final run.
Luis Martinez (4-11) was charged with the loss, working five innings, allowing six runs (three earned) on seven hits while walking one and striking out four.
The series continues tonight at 7:05 p.m. in Kannapolis.
