Local Bridge with Myrnie McLaughlin

Congratulations to our players who took part in the Winston-Salem tournament last week-end. They came home with points and cash rewards.
Pat Macon, Patsy Reynolds, Toni Iossi and Betty Bills all say they had a great time too. These players are also relatively new to sanctioned duplicate bridge. Being reluctant to become part of a bridge community that had a reputation for being cut throat and nasty, they chose to play their duplicate bridge almost exclusively in private home games. They have discovered that the old duplicate reputation is untrue and that their skills are very competitive in the larger bridge arena. We are so glad they have chosen to be a part of our group.
At our Friday, July 24 Evergreen game the competition was lively. Hands shuffled and dealt are every bit as challenging as “computer” hands. This week, five out of eight of our winners were new to the winner’s circle. Winning first: Dave and Anna Goff; second, Nancy Brandt and Ron Jeffers; third, Joe O’Brien and Genny Mozolak; and fourth, Pat Macon and Patsy Reynolds.
