Coastal Carolina University dean’s list
Approximately 1,800 students made the Costal Carolina University’s 2015 spring dean’s list, including Madison Fleming of Mooresville, a freshman majoring in psychology; Steven Kennedy of Salisbury, a freshman majoring in recreation and sport management; Sydney Solomon of Salisbury, a sophomore majoring in early childhood education.
Wake Forest University graduates
More than 1,800 graduated from Wake Forest University, including local residents MaryAlice Stephens of Mooresville and Caitlin Suire of Woodleaf.
Brevard College honors
In April, Brevard College held its annual Honors and Awards Ceremony to honor student, faculty and staff achievement in academics and leadership.
Savannah Cox of Kannapolis received the Exceptional Sophomore award.
Whitney Hardison of Landis, a psychology and criminal justice major received the Service Award for Pastimes, Exceptional Scholastic Achievement and Exceptional senior awards.
Hannah Leonard of Salisbury received an award for outstanding research in psychology.
Ashe Woods, also of Salisbury, is a double major in psychology and wilderness leadership and experiential education. She participated in the spring 2015 immersion semester and the Exceptional Sophomore award.
Appalachian State honors

Local student named to dean’s list at Anderson University
Katherine Paul of Salisbury was named to the dean’s list at Anderson University for the fall semester. In order to be named to the dean’s list, a student must maintain a 3.5 grade point average or higher for the semester.
Bergsma Graduates from Woodberry Forest School
Coleman Hill Bergsma graduated during the 126th commencement exercises at Woodberry Forest School on May 23. Bergsma will attend Furman University.
He is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Donald R. Bergsma, Jr., of Salisbury.
