KANNAPOLIS — On Sunday, May 31 after the 11 a.m. worship service, a renaming service was held. The fellowship hall at Covenant Presbyterian Church on Charlie Walker Road was named the Corine Lytle Cannon Fellowship Hall.

In 1958, Emanuelette Corine Cannon became a charter member of Covenant United Presbyterian Church in Kannapolis. She served as elder, clerk of session, Sunday school teacher, youth advisor, choir member and president of the women’s missionary circle. Cannon was elected as a commissioner to General Assembly three times and attended eight assemblies. She was appointed to boards, agencies and task forces of the Presbyterian Church at the Presbytery, Synod and National levels. Cannon was married to Esau Cannon, a chartered member of Covenant for 63 years.

Attending the service were her children, daughters and son in-laws, grand and great grandchildren and more than 300 relatives and friends of Cannon.
