Solar energy, a growing industry in North Carolina from both residential and business standpoints, will be featured Saturday during the Simple Living Festival at Dan Nicholas Park.

At 1 p.m., Lane Wallace, representing Solarize Rowan, will speak on why solar power is a good economic choice for Rowan County residents and how Solarize Rowan can help residents decide if it’s right for them and, if so, tell them how to get started.

At 2 p.m., Peter Larsen, representing the Power Home Solar company will speak on the opportunities solar energy offers in North Carolina.

The free lectures and presentations will take place in the Proctor Auditorium at the park’s Nature Center.

N.C. House Bill 245, now being considered by the General Assembly, may open the doors even wider for solar in the state.
