Annual Simple Living Festival at Dan Nicholas Park Saturday

On Saturday, May 2, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Dan Nicholas Park will host its annual Simple Living Festival.

There will be traditional crafts, information booths, live music and some special programming, all in front of the nature center.

The crafts featured will include woodcarving, blacksmithing and soap making. Vendors will represent organizations that promote active recreation and sustainable farming, etc. There will be some energy efficient cars on display as well.

Saturday’s musical lineup includes Caleb Hill; Jabe Fisher; Jim Gobble; Orinson, Patton, and Brown (Mark Orinson, Rob Patton, Darryl Brown); Samantha Gabrielle; and Liam and Dalton.The live music on stage will offer something for everyone, including folk, folk rock, gospel and bluegrass, and the music will play from noon until 6 p.m.

The Dan Nicholas Nature Center staff and its animals will be on hand for the enjoyment and education of children of all ages.

In addition, the festival will again offer solar energy education. Representatives will have information for residents and businesses considering solar energy, as well as practical applications of residential installations.

And of course, Dan Nicholas Park activities will all be open for families to enjoy. The park is located at 6800 Bringle Ferry Road. Call 704 216-7819 for more information.
