Two men were charged with breaking into a vacant West Bank Street home four houses away from where one of the suspects lives. A neighbor spotted the two going into the home and called authorities.

Salisbury Police charged Julius De’Angelo Smith, 22, of the 1200 block of West Bank Street, with misdemeanor breaking and entering, and Aquavius Robert Lee, 18, of the 1300 block of West Bank Street, with misdemeanor breaking and entering. Both were issued a written promises to appear in court.

A witness reported seeing two men enter the residence, 1317 West Bank St., a vacant home. The same two went into a home at 1327 West Bank. An officer knocked on the door of 1327 West Bank St. and spoke with the occupant, Aquavius Lee.

Lee also has a pending 2014 case in Rowan County for misdemeanor defrauding an innkeeper, which is essentially leaving a business without paying.

Both are expected in court May 4.

Police Capt. Shelia Lingle said because the neighbor witnessed the break-in and saw the two go into the residence, it helped law enforcement in their search.
