Rowan weather: What a weekend

Expect showers and thunderstorms this afternoon, when it warms up to 79 degrees. Southwest winds will begin to pick up to 9-13 mph, with gust around 20 mph. the chance of precipitation is 60 percent.

This afternoon, we have to be on the lookout for severe storms that could bring damaging wind gusts, quarter-size of larger hail and locally heavy rain. An isolated tornado is possible.

Tonight, the storms continue, with showers late. The low of 52 will be accompanied by a 60 percent chance of rain.

The weekend looks terrific, perfect for all the planned outdoor events. Saturday will be sunny and 71, with a low dipping to 44 degrees. Sunday will be sunny and 70, with a low of 50.

Monday, too will be sunny, with a high near 73. Then rain creeps back in, with a 50 percent chance Monday night and a low of 59.

Here’s where it gets repetitive. Tuesday has a 50 percent chance of showers, under cloudy skies, with a high near 73. Tuesday night, 40 percent chance of showers, low of 52.

Wednesday, 30 percent chance of rain, but partly sunny and 70; 30 percent chance of rain Wednesday night, too with  a low of 52.

And for Thursday, a 40 percent chance of showers, more clouds, and a high of 71.
