Dogwood Tournament A Success

We again had a wonderful weekend of bridge at the Dogwood. So many of our new players participated and all won some master points. I believe that most are now hooked on duplicate. Our Sunday dinner was catered once again by Salisbury’s Debbie Suggs. Many compliments were given to the chef and repeats are expected for next year.  I want to thank you all for your helpfulness and for your contributions of food. You really helped make this a great event. Salisbury, you are the best.

The Wallace Trophy, awarded to our Salisbury player winning the most points for the tournament, went to Bill Wisdom.  The Bob Lemmon Bowl, awarded to our Non- Life Master Player earning the most points for their level, is shared by Judy Gealy and Carol Elkins.  Congratulations to all who won points and participated in the games.

Winners at March 17 Women’s Club were: 1^st Judy Hurder and Wayne Pegram, 2^nd Gloria Bryant and Maggie Canup, 3^rd Fern Albracht and Carol Bachl.

Fern Albracht and Carol Bachl had the best N/S score defeating opponent’s 4SW -1, while the best E/W score 3NE+1 was made by Chuck and Margaret Rimer.

We were saddened by the death of Lucy Brown a long time bridge player and avid golfer on Sunday March 8. She partnered with many of us over the years and was always a jolly soul. We remember her fondly. Her long life of 96 years can be attributed to staying active physically and mentally. She will be sorely missed.
