Welcome, spring
If today’s newsprint Opinion page could be produced in color, we’d make it forsythia yellow. Or perhaps the buttery color of daffodils. Either way, these harbingers of spring have brought splashes of sunny color to the landscape in the past week.
They have perfect timing. Astronomically speaking, the vernal equinox will usher in spring at 6:45 p.m. EDT Friday. Compared to other parts of the nation, Rowan County can hardly complain about the harshness of the past winter, but we’ll do it anyway.
Suffice to say that people are more than ready to shed coats and boots and enjoy one of Nature’s most welcome seasons. As the verse in Proverbs says, “No matter how long the winter, spring is sure to follow.” Thank heaven for that.
