Food Lion crowns Miss CIAA

CHARLOTTE — Food Lion awarded Miss Chowan University, LaTarryl Hall, with its coveted 2015 Miss CIAA crown and a scholarship at the McDonald’s/CIAA SuperSaturday inside the Time Warner Cable Arena today.
Hall is a native of Columbia, S.C. She is a senior at Chowan majoring in criminal justice.
The Food Lion Miss CIAA competition winners are given scholarships based on their GPA, community and school involvement, biography, essay and online popular vote.
The first runner up was SA’Keithia Hammond, Miss Johnson C. Smith University. Second-runner up was Miss Winston-Salem State University Leah Darby. The CIAA is a NCAA Division II athletic conference consisting mostly of historically African-American institutions of higher education.
