Temporary closing of Centerview Street moved up
As part of the Piedmont Improvement Program, N.C. Department of Transportation contractors will be temporarily closing Centerview Street between Main Street and Harris Street in China Grove, in Rowan County.
The closure, originally scheduled to start March 1, will now get an earlier start. The contractor has decided to begin the work onMonday, Feb. 23 and will now be completed March 23.
The work is being done so crews can install a new water and sewer line.
To avoid a long-term closure of Centerview Street until the second track is constructed, crews will reopen the road following this work. A future temporary closure will also be necessary to complete track work at the railroad crossing.
Motorists traveling in the area can use the following signed detour route that will take them along Centerview Street, U.S. 29 Connector, U.S. 29 and North Main Street.
