Nominations sought for Koontz Humanitarian Awards

Nominations are now being accepted for the Elizabeth Duncan Koontz Humanitarian Awards. The Elizabeth Duncan Koontz award recognizes people from the Salisbury-Rowan community who exemplify the ideals of Libby Koontz and have made important contributions to improving human relations in the areas of education, employment, housing, industry, business, civic, church and community service. This award is named in memory of Elizabeth “Libby” Koontz who was one of the organizers who re-established the Salisbury-Rowan Human Relations Council in 1985.
The nominee must:
- Be a resident of the Salisbury-Rowan community.
- Have made a significant contribution to the improvement of human relations in Rowan County, the state of North Carolina or on a national level.
- Have contributed to social betterment in the areas of education, housing, employment, industry, business, government, civic or community relations.
Anyone in Rowan County may nominate. To nominate a person for this award, please complete the form online by March 13 at 4 p.m. Incomplete submissions will not be eligible. One submission per person, please. Announcement of the award will be made at the EDK Humanitarian Awards Banquet on April 16.
