SPENCER — In the end, the Cavaliers were just too much for the Bulldogs. A 10-0 run toward the end of the third quarter that included 3-pointers by Josh Handy and Alexis Archie sparked North Rowan to an 84-59 home victory Friday.

Jalen Sanders and Josh Handy led the Cavaliers (11-4, 4-0 CCC) with 20 and 19 points, respectively. Handy was a beast on the boards in the first quarter with eight rebounds in the period. That continued for the rest of the game.

There were fireworks at the end of tight, hard-fought first half. Thomasville’s Jahare Taylor-Thomas muscled up a layup with 7 seconds left in the half. Sanders answered by swishing a running 3-pointer as the buzzer sounded. North Rowan was ahead 40-35 at the break.

Sanders’ 22 points led all scorers, and he made four 3-pointers. Handy was second in scoring with 19 points. Joseph Scott contributed 13 points.

Taylor-Thomas was second in scoring for the Bulldogs (5-9, 1-3 CCC) with 16 points. Tyquan Anderson scored a team-high 18 points.
