Athlete of the Week: South Rowan’s Cassidy Chipman

South Rowan senior basketball player Cassidy Chipman is the Post’s Athlete of the Week.

Chipman scored 25 points in South Rowan’s 65-6 South Piedmont Conference win against  Northwest Cabarrus on Friday and reached 1,000 points for her career. She finished the night with 1,002.

A tw0-time all-county player, Chipman is averaging 15.1 points per game this season and is South Rowan’s leading rebounder with 9.0 per game.

Chipman has scored in double figures 49 times in her career. She’s scored 20 or more  points 16 times and has topped 30 points four times. Her career high is 33 points, a total she’s reached twice.
