A woman told authorities an armed assailant robbed her of $1,800 in cash and gift cards outside Walmart the day after Christmas.

The incident occurred Dec. 26 just before 6 p.m.

The 55-year-old woman told a Salisbury Police officer she had gone into the store to buy a coffee pot and was putting her bag in the back seat of the car when a black female approached her and grabbed for her purse. The victim held onto her purse and was pushed by the suspect.

The suspect told the victim to “give it up,” a report said.

The suspect also choked the woman and told the victim she’d “choke the life out of you,” the victim told police.

She pulled out a revolver and hit the woman on the back of the head with the gun. The victim let go of the purse and saw the suspect run toward Murphy’s Express gas station across from Walmart.

The victim was looked at by EMS personnel who responded to the scene, but she was not taken to the hospital.

She told police the robber took her purse, which contained her identification, three credit cards, her keys, $1,200 in cash and $600 worth of gift cards.

Police have not made an arrest. The suspect is described as a black female who was seen wearing “boyish” clothing. The victim told police she did not recognize the suspect.
