Dinah Carpenter discovered this photograph among some old pictures she was going through recently and thought it was a perfect ‘Yesterday’ contribution for Christmas. It shows her husband, Sonny Carpenter, as a young newsboy carrying the Salisbury Post. He’s actually knocking on his own door, and the photograph appeared on the front page of the Post Dec. 24, 1937, as the newspaper’s way of saying Merry Christmas. Dinah said the paper Sonny is holding is dated Dec. 19, 1937. David Lamano made a copy of the photo for her, and she provided it to the Post.
