Laura S. Newman recently came across this 1936 photograph taken from Mocksville Avenue of Rowan Memorial Hospital, which opened that same year. Laura’s husband was the late Maynard Newman, and his father, Dr. H.H. Newman Sr. was a surgeon at Rowan Memorial. When the hospital opened, it had 80 beds and 65 people on staff.
