Rowan magistrate charged with DWI
Rowan County Magistrate Jeffrey Forbes was charged yesterday with driving while impaired following a stop by the Highway Patrol in Stanly County.
Few details are available at this time, but court records show Forbes was charged with driving while impaired, reckless driving and his license was automatically revoked for 30 days.
The trooper who responded to the incident does not return to work until later today, Stanly County Highway Patrol officials said.
Stanly County officials did say someone called dispatch about a possible intoxicated driver.
A Post reporter attempted to contact Forbes, but no one answered the phone at his home.
Chief District Court Judge Charlie Brown, who supervises the magistrates, was in court this morning and not able to immediately respond.
