Man facing over a dozen charges found hiding in kitchen cabinet

A man wanted for skipping out on court and burglary was found hiding in a kitchen cabinet when a detective with the sheriff’s department served a warrant on him.

When Brett Andrew Hunter, 23, of the 100 block of Doster Road in China Grove was arrested, he was in possession of two smoking pipes, bolt cutters and a lock pick, adding additional charges of felony possession of burglary tools, misdemeanor resisting a public officer and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia to his rap sheet, and $5,000 to his bond.

The officer was serving a warrant for felony breaking and entering, felony larceny after breaking and entering and two counts of obtaining property by false pretenses connected to an Oct. 10 burglary.

According to arrest warrants, Hunter broke into a residence in the 100 block of Beth Drive in China Grove and stole a nail gun, reciprocating saw, trim nail gun, pressure washer, chainsaw, air compressor and cordless drill – a value of $1,430.

Hunter sold the reciprocating saw for $35 at Reliable Pawn Shop, the pressure washer for $125 at Discount Jewelry Pawn and the drill set for $27 at Frank’s Pawn Shop.

Hunter was issued a $5,000 bond for those charges.

He was also issued a $600 bond in early August when he failed to appear in court for possession of drug paraphernalia and carrying a concealed weapon charges.

An additional $6,500 bond was added in late August when he failed to appear in court for a variety of traffic violations including speeding and unsafely passing a crest or curve.

Hunter is being held in the Rowan County Detention Center on $17,100 bond.

 

Man breaks into hotel room, threatens and assault occupant

A Kannapolis man was arrested for breaking into a Greensboro hotel room and assaulting and threatening its occupant.

Timothy Adam Broome, 30, of the 100 block of Payne Rd. in Kannapolis was charged with felony breaking and entering with intent to injure occupant, misdemeanor simple assault and misdemeanor communicating threats.

According to the arrest warrant, Broome broke into room 1488 of the Sheraton Greensboro Hotel, slapped the occupant in the face and told him he was “going to leave him in the gutter and break his face.”

Broome is being held in the Rowan County Detention Center on $10,000 bond.

 

Man faces drug charges

Steven Daniel Kenneway, 28, of the 7200 block of Stokes Ferry Rd. was charged with felony possession of heroin and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

He is being held in the Rowan County Detention Center on $40,000 bond.

 

Woman assaults two teenaged boys

A 41-year-old woman is charged with threatening and assaulting two teenaged boys.

According to an arrest warrant, she grabbed one of the boys’ neck with her hands and threatened to cut the other one with a letter opener.

Starnes is being held in the Rowan County Detention Center on a $10,000 bond.

 

Man found in vacant home charged with breaking and entering

A Salisbury man faces a stiff bond after he was found in an unused home he broke into.

Michael Wayne Tart, 38, of the 1700 block of Old Concord Road was issued a $25,000 bond when he was arrested Sunday afternoon.

According to warrants, Tart was charged with two counts of felony breaking and entering and possession of burglary tools after he broke into two homes in the 3800 block of S. Main Street.
