Editorial: The power of one
North Hills student Sydney Lewis struck a nerve recently when she told members of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church she wanted to collect 500 cans of food for Rowan Helping Ministries for her senior project. Word spread throughout the community, and 1,500 cans accumulated by Thanksgiving Day. Sydney’s power of one will touch hundreds of families.
The success of Sydney’s project is a powerful reminder of people’s generosity. Young people in the Salisbury-Rowan community take on countless worthwhile causes for senior projects, Eagle Scout projects and just personal missions that bring out the best in the community.
Congratulations to Sydney for the success of her project and for thinking of such a good way to help others.
