The Rowan Public Library will offer the following educational programs for students during the month of December.

The library will be closed Thursday and Friday, as well as Dec. 5, Dec. 24-27 and Jan. 1.

Dec. 2: Holiday pajama express

Hop on board for an evening of fun! Children are invited to come in their pajamas to hear stories, drink hot cocoa, make crafts and greet a special guest. This event is held from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at South Rowan Regional Library, 920 Kimball Road in China Grove.  Call 704-216-7729 for more details.

Dec. 6: Stories by the fireplace

Join us by the “library fire” for Christmastime stories and crafts with Santa. Holiday cheer and refreshments complete the festivities. This event is held from 10:30 a.m. until noon at East Branch, 110 Broad St. in Rockwell. Call 704-216-7842 for more details.

Dec. 6: RoBoJo holiday show

RoBoJo Theatre Troupe returns to Rowan Public Library for the 15th annual presentation of its holiday theater. A fun crew of talented local actors will join Rowan Public Library’s children’s staff to perform an hour-long variety show of skits, songs, readers’ theater and audience participation. Dec. 9: Excerpts from “The Nutcracker”

Enjoy excerpts from “The Nutcracker” ballet production performed to live music by members of the Salisbury Symphony. Hear the story that inspired the music — and maybe meet a ballerina. Free of charge and open to children of all ages. This holiday program will take place at the Rowan Public Library headquarters, 201 W. Fisher St. in Salisbury at 6:30 p.m.

Dec. 17: Christmas Tea Party

It wouldn’t be December without a visit from jolly Old Saint Nick. Join the party and enjoy a Christmas story time of holiday fun and refreshments with Santa and Mrs. Claus.
