SALISBURY — Lawrence Richard Dudley, 59, of Cedar Drive, Salisbury, faces upwards of 20 charges related to his sexually assaulting two children known to him.

Dudley was charged Tuesday with two counts of first-degree statutory rape,  11 counts of taking indecent liberties with children under 13, four counts of first-degree sexual offense with a victim under 13 and three counts of dissemination of pornography to minors under the age of 13.

He was placed in the Rowan County Detention Center under $750,000 bond after his arrest Tuesday afternoon.

According to Lt. John Sifford of the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office, the incidents date back as far as Sept. 25, 2007, and also were happening as late as May 1, 2010. The victims were reported to be of elementary school age at the time.
