Record low temperatures Tuesday and Wednesday

The early morning hours of Wednesday saw record low temperatures in Rowan County.

The temperature dropped to 13 degrees during the predawn hours, according to the National Weather Service, besting the previous record low for Nov. 19 of 16 degrees set in 1951.

Tuesday also saw a new record low as the late-night temperature dropped to 19 degrees , 1 degree below the previous record set for Nov. 18 in 1937.

Cold weather swept across the country Tuesday. All 50 states, including Hawaii, had below freezing temperatures at some point in the day.

In Rowan County, temperatures are expected to climb to the 50s Thursday and approach 60 degrees on Sunday. The next few days are expected to have plenty of sunshine, but rain is in the forecast for Sunday.
