U.S. House Rep. Virginia Foxx (NC-5) stopped by the Rowan-Salisbury School System’s administrative offices Friday to meet with Superintendent Dr. Lynn Moody.

“Dr. Moody is fairly new and we haven’t had a chance to chat before,” Foxx said. “We had a wonderful conversation.”

She said the purpose of the visit was to get to know Moody and to open up the lines of communication between her office and the school System.

Foxx and Moody discussed what is going on in the school system – particularly the district’s one-to-one digital conversion project.

“I’m just real excited to hear about the innovations with the digital conversion,” Foxx said, adding that millions of jobs go unfilled because the workforce doesn’t have the right skills.

“We need to be steering people in the right direction,” she said.

Board members Chuck Hughes, Susan Cox and Josh Wagner joined Foxx and Moody for a luncheon, as well as other local leaders.

Foxx serves on the education committee and the elementary and secondary education subcommittees. She also chairs the higher education subcommittee.
