Rowan County gas prices drop below $3 per gallon

Gas prices are falling below $3 in Rowan County.
Several stations in the Salisbury area had prices at $2.99 a gallon Monday, according to gasbuddy.com.
The price at the Shell station on Jake Alexander Boulevard near Interstate 85 was $2.99 per gallon. The price was also a penny below $3 at the Sunoco station on South Main Street in Salisbury.
Prices at the Hess and Love’s stations on Peeler Road near I-85 were $2.92 and $2.95, respectively, according to the site, which tracts gas prices around the country.
In China Grove, the BP station on North Main Street was selling gas for $2.99 per gallon.
The average price per gallon for Rowan County was $3.17 at midday Monday.
According to AAA, the national average price of gas has dropped 21 cents in a month. Monday’s national average was $3.19.
According to a Bloomberg Businessweek article published in September, “Over the last three years, the price of gasoline from September to November has fallen by an average of more than 30 cents a gallon.”
The price of crude oil has dropped from over $100 a barrel in July 2013 to around $85 on Monday.
