A ‘mini’ Relay for Life event to honor and remember

A “mini” Relay for Life was held Thursday at Autumn Care of Salisbury.

The nursing home’s residents attended a memorial to honor and remember residents, and family members, who have died from cancer. The memorial included songs and poetry.

After the memorial, residents took a victory lap around the nursing station to celebrate life.

Felicia Charles, coordinator for Rowan County Relay for Life, said, “It’s just mainly a big party because they have so many survivors here that don’t get to come out to Relay; so we’re bringing Relay to them.”

Relay for Life raises money for cancer research. And October is national Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Find Rowan County Relay for Life on Facebook for more information.
