South falls on the road

CONCORD — South Rowan was shut out Friday in a South Piedmont Conference game at Cox Mill. The Chargers beat the Raiders 55-0 in Concord.
The game was 7-0 at the end of the first quarter.
That lead was opened up big time in the second quarter. The Chargers scored 34 points in the period for a 41-0 lead at halftime.
Cox Mill scored a touchdown in the first three minutes of the third quarter to institute the running clock. It added a touchdown, the final one of the game, later in the half.
Statistics from the game were not available at press time.
The Raiders dropped to 2-4 overall this season and 1-3 against the SPC. Cox Mill improved to 3-4 overall and is 2-2 in league play.
South Rowan is at home next week against Carson.
