Intimidators win

The Kannapolis Intimidators got a great relief outing from Brad Salgado and beat Lakewood 7-6 on Sunday at CMC-NorthEast Stadium.
Salgado relieved in the sixth and got 10 outs without allowing a baserunner.
Nolan Earley had three hits, including a triple and a double, for the Intimidators, who are 46-52 on the season but 17-14 in the second half.
The teams meet early today at 12:05 p.m. Kannapolis has an off day Tuesday after a long trip to Hagerstown and starts a series at Hagerstown Wednesday.
• Justin Seager (NW Cabarrus, Charlotte) had two hits on Sunday to bump his batting average to .240. Seager is playing Class A ball in the Mariners organization in Clinton, Iowa.
• Corey Seager (NW Cabarrus) had a triple in his first game in Double A with Chattanooga.
• Jordan Jankowski (Catawba) is 3-3 with three saves for the Corpus Christi Hooks, Houston’s Double A team. Jankowski has struck out 73 in 71 innings, while walking 17.
• Nick Lomascolo (Catawba) continues to turn in impressive relief outings for the State College Spikes of the New York-Penn League. Lomascolo struck out five in two hitless innings and walked one.
In his last 10 outings, covering 18 innings, the lefty has fanned 20, while walking five. He has an ERA of 1.02 in his last 10 outings.

Legion baseball
High Point rolled 14-3 against Winston-Salem on Sunday to finish a three-game sweep of the Area III championship series.
High Point joins host Davidson County as the Area III teams in the state tournament.
Other teams in the field are Garner, Wayne County, Wilmington, Hope Mills, Shelby and the Gaston Braves.
Games start Friday at Holt-Moffitt Field in Lexington.
High Point plays Wayne County at 4:30 on Friday. Davidson County plays at 7:30 against Garner.
Randolph County is hosting the Southeast Regional this year, while Shelby hosts the World Series.

East-West
The East-West All-Star games in Greensboro begin tonight with the basketball contests at Greensboro Coliseum. The girls game starts at 6:30, with the boys game scheduled for 8:30.
The soccer all-star game is Tuesday, while the all-star football game is Wednesday.

College wood bat leagues
Avery Rogers (East Rowan, Guilford) pitched another hitless, scoreless inning with one strikeout on Sunday as the Kernersville Bulldogs won 5-0 against the Catawba Valley Stars in the Carolina-Virginia Collegiate League.

China Grove Youth Baseball and Softball fall registration starts today at Dale’s Sporting Goods in China Grove.
Cost: $40 until August 30.
