Two area men were charged following a three-month undercover operation by the Special Investigations Unit of the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office.

Officials say from March to June, Justin Wade Ames, 28, and Travis Dane Irick, 24, sold heroin and oxymorphone to the undercover officers.

Ames, of the 600 block of Lippard Road, was arrested Friday in connection with an April 1 incident involving the sale of oxymorphone. He was charged with one count of possession with intent to sell and deliver oxymorphone and one count of maintaining a residence for keeping and selling controlled substances. He was issued a $7,500 secured bond and has since been released from the Rowan County Detention Center.

Irick, of the 100 block of Efird Road, Gold Hill, was arrested Saturday. He was charged with 14 drug offense charges.

Authorities say the following involve Irick:

• March 5 — Felony selling heroin, possession with intent to sell and deliver heroin, and maintaining a vehicle for keeping and selling controlled substances.

• March 7 — Felony selling heroin, possession the intent to sell and deliver heroin, maintaining a vehicle for keeping and selling controlled substances.

• April 1 — Felony selling sell oxycodone, possession with intent to sell and deliver oxycodone.

• April 3 — Felony selling heroin, possession the intent to sell and deliver heroin, maintaining a residence for keeping and selling controlled substances.

• June 17 — Felony trafficking heroin by sale, trafficking heroin by possession and trafficking heroin by transportation.

Irick remains in the Rowan County jail under a $500,000 secured bond.
