Rowan weather: Not as hot today

Published 12:00 am Monday, June 23, 2014

A cloudy start will give way to partly sunny skies and a high near 84, a little break from the higher temperatures of last week. But nothing else changes much, with a chance of showers and thunderstorms every day.
Today’s chance is 30 percent, lasting into the night, with a low around 68.
Add two degrees for Tuesday’s high of 86, and bump up the shower chances to 40 percent, with showers and storms lingering into the night, with a low of 69.
Don’t expect much rain accumulation unless you’re stuck under a heavy thunderstorm, which is also likely to produce frequent lightning and gusty winds.
For Wednesday, we go up another degree, to 87 and continue with that 40 percent chance of precipitation. The low will be near 68, with another 40 percent chance of rain.
Thursday, warmer yet, with a high near 89, a 30 percent chance of rain. Thursday night’s forecast has no mention of showers or storms. The low will be around 69.
Then, we’re back in the zone for Friday and Saturday. Friday’s high will be around 88, 30 percent chance of you know what. Friday night, low 69 and more of that stuff.
Saturday, 88 again, with the same chance of blah, blah, blah, and a low near 69.
On Sunday, the rain chance is 0, but that could change. The high will be a toasty 89.
Please remember to make sure your pets have plenty of water and shelter from the sun. Also check on your gardens and your potted plants. Our Northern Hemisphere is tilted right toward the sun, which is what summer is all about, and it can get brutal out there.
