Rowan Amateur coming

The 36th Annual Horace Billings Rowan County Amateur Championship qualifying dates are Friday, July 11 through Sunday, July 13, at Corbin Hills.
The entry fee to qualify is $25, plus cart and green fee. The qualifying tournament format is 18-hole stroke play.
Tournament players must be a resident of Rowan County or a member of a golf club in Rowan County. The tournament entry deadline is Wednesday, July 9.
The tournament match play event will begin on Friday, July 18, with the 31 local qualifiers and the defending champion Andrew Morgan rounding out the tournament field.

Rowan County (1-1) plays tonight at Mooresville Post 537 at Mooresville High.
Southern Rowan (2-0) has the night off and returns to action Monday at home against Kannapolis.
League games won’t start until well into June.
Rowan and Southern Rowan are in the Southeast Division and will play eight leagues games each.
Delmarva used a six-run sixth to bury Kannapolis 10-2 on Saturday in South Atlantic League action.
Danny Hayes went 3-for-3 for the Intimidators.
Mike Yastrzemski and Chance Cisco homered for the Shorebirds. Yastrzemski is the grandson of Hall of Famer Carl Yastrzemski.
South Rowan won 5-4 against the Kannapolis O’s on Saturday.
Michael Young and Chandler Hubbard had two hits each for the O’s. Bailey Purcell had two hits for South.
• The Kannapolis Reds won 11-3 against South.
Blake Sinclair and Tyler Henley had three hits each for the Reds, while Lane Argabright and Dalton Coleman had two each. Garrett Harrington and Scott Cline had two hits each for South.
• The Kannapolis O’s (NW Cabarrus) won 7-0 against the Kannapolis Reds (A.L. Brown). Leading hitters in the game were Casey Ritchie with three, and Josh Endicott, Chase Orrock, Kaseem Black and Lane Argabright with two each.
All three games were part of a Saturday triple-header at A.L. Brown.

The 4th Summer Jam Evaluation Basketball Camp will be held June 16-19 at the Benchwarmers Sports Complex in Mooresville.
The camp is for boys and girls — g rades 9-11 from 9-12 daily and grades 3-8 from 1-4 daily.
Early registration cost is $60 per player or $50 apiece for two or more players.
After May 31, the cost goes up to $75.
Players receive T-shirts and daily snacks and drinks.
