Local school bus drivers compete in ‘roadeo’

The annual Rowan-Salisbury Schools School Bus “Roadeo” was held April 11 at the Transportation Department facility on Old Concord Rd.
The “Roadeo” is a driving skills competition for regular, permanent drivers of Rowan-Salisbury Schools. The first and second place winners will advance to the district “Roadeo” to be held in Cabarrus County on May 12. The top ten contestants of the district “Roadeo” will then advance to the state “Roadeo” to be held at the North Carolina State Fairgrounds in Raleigh on May 19.
Five Rowan-Salisbury Schools bus drivers competed in the local “Roadeo”: Hilda Boswell of Special Needs Busing, Heather Bailey of Special Needs Busing, Lori Leddon of Southeast Middle School and Koontz Elementary School, Olivia Bowles of Bostian Elementary School and Daryl Vaughters of Rowan Early College and East Rowan High School.
The first place winner was Lori Leddon and she received a Kindle Fire and certificate of recognition. The second place winner is Heather Bailey and she received a Blue-Ray DVD player and certificate of recognition. The third place winner and alternate is Hilda Boswell. She received a ShopVac and certificate of recognition.
Lori Leddon and Heather Bailey will represent Rowan-Salisbury Schools at the district “Roadeo”.
