Pictured in this portrait, Dr. Littleton William Coleman was a prominent physician who located in Rockwell after attending medical school in Petersburg, Va. He was born in Warren County and married Jane Arey of Rowan County. Their daughter Lottie married E.B.C. Hambley, an Englishman connected with the Whitney Co. and the original owner of the 1903 Hambley-Wallace mansion of 20 rooms on South Fulton Street. Coleman served as a director of the Yadkin Railroad and had a successful dairy farm near Rockwell.
