Reading came to life recently at Knollwood Elementary School. Students and staff dressed as their favorite storybook characters in a celebration of reading.
Kindergartners participated in a character parade around the school during the morning to show off their costumes.
That night, students and their families participated in a reading extravaganza.
Classrooms were open to visitors to show off student reading fair projects and students gathered in the cafeteria for storytelling time with Robert Jones from the Rowan County Public Library. Other activities for students were: reading bingo, a “Who’s Reading What” game, a book swap and a photo booth where students could have their picture made in their costume.
Parents were also able to participate in two informational sessions called “Apps and websites and helping your growing readers.”
