Wonders top Cavaliers

A.L. Brown’s baseball team won 7-4 against North Rowan in a non-conference game played Thursday in Spencer.
Zach Mullinax hit a tie-breaking homer in the seventh to lift the Wonders, and Kameron Sherrill’s two-run single provided insurance runs.
Trace Hagler pitched four innings for the Wonders. Hayden Taylor pitched the last three and got the win.
Corey Fries took the loss. He relieved Brandon White in the fifth.
Chance Mazza and Noah Gonzalez had two each for North (0-1). Joey Bonnarigo and Hagler had three hits each for the Wonders (2-0).
North is scheduled to play Ledford today.

Hoffner, Ben Beeson and Charlie Muchukot had two hits each.
Colby Cranfill was the winning pitcher.
Davie is at home today against Salisbury (1-0).
• There’s more SPC league action on tap today, with Central Cabarrus at Carson, Cox Mill at East Rowan and South Rowan a Northwest Cabarrus.
West Rowan is scheduled to play at Mooresville.
Carson’s softball team won 2-0 against Central Cabarrus in a season-opening SPC matchup on Thursday.
Lacee Hunsucker struck out 11. Kayce Kennedy had a run-scoring double. Michaela White had two hits.
• A.L. Brown won 18-0 against Salisbury on Thursday in a non-conference matchup.
• The Greater Cabarrus Stallions won 13-2 against Pine Lake Prep.
Laura Stevenson pitched one-hit ball for four innings. Sabryna Gordon had three hits and four RBIs. Shelby Koonts also had three hits.
East Rowan’s boys tennis team opened with an 8-1 victory against Mount Pleasant.
Justin Allen, Chance Brown, Evan Rogers, Robert Gray and Jeremy Price won singles matches for the Mustangs.
Brown-Ike Emerson, Allen-Rogers and Gray-Addison Fry won the doubles matches.
Thomas Chapman won at No. 1 singles for the Tigers.
East is home against Salisbury on Monday.
• Salisbury rolled 9-0 against West Stanly.
Clint Comadoll, Spencer Storey, Chris Derrick, David Derrick, Hunter Carlton and Alex Julian won singles matches.
Comadall-Chris Derrick, Storey-David Derrick and Carlton-Julian were the winning doubles teams for the Hornets (2-0).
Top scorers in a golf scrimmage were East Rowan’s Logan Shuping (35), West Rowan’s Jake Kennedy (36), Salisbury’s Eric Edwards (37), Salisbury’s Chris Queen (39) and Concord’s Walker Cress (39).
Will Collins (Salisbury) shot 71 in the eGolf Tour’s Palmette Hall Championship Thursday and is tied for 14th. Frank Adams III shot 78, and Russ Adams, the former MLB infielder who is giving pro golf a try, shot 80.
Janiya Downs scored 13 points to lead Corriher-Lipe’s girls to a 27-26 win against Knox.
Rhianna Kimmer scored 8 for the Yellow Jackets, while Ashlyn Plott led the C-L defense.
Bryanna Troutman scored nine for Knox, and Essence Summer had five.
• Corriher-Lipe (10-0) stayed unbeaten with a 51-22 win against West Rowan Middle.
Downs scored 24 points. Kimmer had 10, while Plott and Anna Blume scored seven each.
Chantal Roberts scored nine to lead the Bulldogs.
