WILMINGTON (AP) — The battleship North Carolina is getting a half million dollars from the state to repair its hull.
Gov. Pat McCrory’s office says the money has been allocated from a state repair fund.
The money will allow engineering studies of the ground below the battleship berthed in Wilmington. That will help in the design of a cofferdam so the battleship’s hull can be repaired on site.
The battleship is North Carolina’s memorial to World War II veterans. It was docked on the Cape Fear River back in 1962.
