Yesterday: Parking enforcement in 1939

Here’s a photograph provided by Donna Peeler Poteat of a Salisbury Police officer on his parking enforcement route. It appears he is walking south on South Main Street. The photograph was taken on May 22, 23 or 24, 1939, because local movie historian Mike Cline says that’s when “Jesse James” played at the Victory Theatre, whose marquee can be seen in the background. If you know who the officer is, contact Mark Wineka at 704-797-4263, or mwineka@salisburypost.com.
